Got a chance to go to a
new movie last night, truly extraordinary ability of getting it made
at a time investors moving away form the industry they have done
brilliant job at finding products to help them make a film.
It is important to note
that it is a very good film to see and learn many things as a
filmmaker. If you do not have a idea about how a cinematic narrative
works you should not make a film. It defer from any other situation
of story telling. The literature and grammar of a pure visualized
from of story telling is compliantly different form a dramatic out
put of a stage play or from television but some may point out some
similarities in the crafts. In this point we must understand that any
of thease dose not relate with out a philosophy about the crafts.
However in this particular film the 1st half can be very
well relate to a person who lived with house mates. But after a while
it becomes a over done meltdown.
With this I would like to
address the idiotic ideology that is in Sri Lankan society, Film,
Television , Stage plays can be done by any one. It is not a matter
of having a academically structured education of any of the crafts
yet understanding of the crafts. It is also worth noting that been a
fan of this subject dose not make you a professional at it. There are
couple of “directors”working in the industry at the moment who
are very well lucky fans making “films”. I have been confused by
the artistic choice of half nudity and sex from cheap attempt of
selling the movie. In this content one can be easily manipulate the
idea of “we only should do abstractions ” , not at all I
recommend to do good conceptual cinematic experiments rather than
mind bending abstractions, because after all cinema can be define as
a method of entertainment and business. Many of us know that Sri
Lankan cinema went to rubbish after 1985 because of very unnecessary
adaptation of Bollywood/ Hollywood mainstream story telling. I fear
that the other extreme of Russian or European artistic abstraction
could kill it backwards. We need to produce more popular culture
cinema.
This film also bring up
things that I might not the person to write about, the idea of point
and shoot or have shot something on TV or done a Music video dose not
make you a cinematographer. I do not think the “Director of
Photography” in this film have done even that since the all film is
in out of focus. Colors of a shot changes during a take. Despite all
of that technical errors I would like a scholar in acting to see the
movie because really in my point of view they all trying to act. It
is simple,if some one is acting in a movie it is horrible to watch,
it is unbelievably irritating to watch some one trying to act in a
film. This film made one very important point if you don't know what
you doing do not do it. ACTING IS NOT ABOUT HAVING A HOT ASS BODY
and willingness to show it, sorry you epic fail.
Any way what do I know
about this stuff there a lot more professionals with doctor rates.
